Sarah L. Averill, MD, is an academic radiologist at the University of Iowa and the VA Hospital in Iowa City. Sarah teaches wellness strategies from mindfulness to reflective writing to medical students at the Carver College of Medicine. She has been blogging and writing award-winning creative non-fiction essays and poetry for twelve years with articles frequently appearing on Medscape and in medical humanities and literary journals such at the Healing Muse and Stone Canoe. When she’s not wearing her white coat, she can be found riding gravel roads, barefoot in the garden or playing banjo by the fire.
